Understanding Your Dog - Canine Communication
Whether it's through their body posture, facial expressions, or the noises they make, dogs use different signs to let us know what they need. By paying attention to these signals, you can make sure your furry friend is happy and healthy and build a strong bond with them. It is also crucial for safety, because dog bites can occur when people fail to recognise the escalating signs that a dog is feeling distressed; dogs typically show this in many subtle ways before they growl, snap or lunge
Learn to understand what your dog is feeling:
Stress, discomfort, nervousness
Assertive or aggressive
Curious, anticipatory
Displacement
Defensive and offensive
Happy and relaxed
A great educational seminar for owners with dogs of all ages and sizes.
Dog bite prevention
Learn to minimise the risk of dog bites and attacks in both known and unknown dogs, in your home and on your walks. This includes dog to humans and dog to dogs.
Seminar content:
Why dogs bite? (Fear or pain, or puppies still learning)
How to read basic dog body language and other behaviours
Know the signs that dogs give to indicate that they’re feeling anxious, afraid, threatened or aggressive
Respecting the dog’s feelings about interacting with or being touched by family and strangers
Dogs and Children
Being approached by an unknown dog
How to defend yourself and your dog
Everyday self protection tools
How do you get a dog to release its bite and minimise the bite damage
Perfect for families with a child fearful of dogs, with a family pet or who visit the homes of family or friends with a dog.
